Milton, ON - July 22, 2014 - Longtime Milton resident and successful business and community leader Azim Rizvee is hoping to win the nomination as the Liberal candidate for Milton in the upcoming Federal election.
Rizvee, who is co-founder and CEO of Milton-based MinMaxx Realty, says "after having served the Milton community for over a decade both as a successful entrepreneur as well as a community activist, I have decided to seek the nomination in the new Milton riding in the spirit of giving back to the community and being a strong local advocate in Ottawa".
“I am committed to serving the people in the new federal Milton riding,” Rizvee says. “I am not only passionate about building a better community for families but also have a solid track record of delivering this community vision.”
Rizvee's life philosophy is "actions always speak louder than words". He says “once it comes to business and community service one should always think big, start small, and act fast". His track record speaks for itself and is reflected in his mission of building communities and changing lives through hard work.
The boundaries for the Halton electoral district were recently redrawn by Elections Canada. The new riding will be called "Milton" in next year's federal vote set for October 19th.
Jennifer Stebbing, Jeff Raulino, Martyn Johns and Zeeshan Hamid are also seeking the Liberal nomination.
The local liberal association hasn’t set a date for the nomination vote.
Rizvee’s decision to run came after numerous requests over the years from Milton riding residents and stakeholders because of his community mindedness and contributions as well as his own aspirations of bringing community focus and a healthy culture back into federal politics. He supports Justin Trudeau's belief that politics should be positive, optimistic, and hopeful.
He says "given the victories by Liberal candidates in the recent provincial election Halton region local residents have spoken, saying they are unhappy with Conservative government policies across the board as those policies don’t align at all with local priorities".
Apart from tackling national policy matters such as the Economy and Jobs, Immigration and Citizenship, and Foreign Relations with trade partners, the issues of local importance Rizvee hopes to address are healthcare, education, and transit.
He says, “likeLiberal leader Justin Trudeau, I believe hard work pays off and I will work hard to improve the quality of life and prosperity in thenew Milton riding through building economic opportunities, generating more jobs, better healthcare, education, and transportation. I will immediately focus on expanding the Milton hospital and lobby for a university and better transit.
Regarding issue of immigration and citizenship that Rizvee plans to tackle he says "Canada needs an open, fair, and transparent immigration system that is vigilant in keeping the country safe but also just and equal for all. Family unification is a strong foundation of our immigration system. Uniting close relatives through permanent residence strengthens communities, culture, and nurtures our children. We need to make it easy for families to unite with their parents and grandparents."
