The Milton Historical Society and the Town of Milton will honour five new inductees into Milton’s Walk of Fame on February 22, 2014.

George Newton Hood, the late George Richardson Cottrell, the late Edward Dennis Hunter, the late Edith Rainsford Dick, and the late Honourable Joseph Martin, K.C. will be inducted into the Milton Walk of Fame. A ceremony co-hosted by the Milton Historical Society and the Town of Milton will take place on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Milton Town Hall, 150 Mary Street, Milton. All members of the public are welcome to attend.

"On behalf of Milton Council, I would like congratulate the 2013 Milton Walk of Fame inductees," said Town of Milton Mayor Gord Krantz. "It is a privilege for us to be able to honour these Miltonians for their outstanding contributions."

"The accomplishments of the 2013 Walk of Fame Inductees have been felt locally, nationally, and globally," said Jan Mowbray, President, Milton Historical Society. "These individuals have made a difference in their fields and in the world."

During the Walk of Fame Induction ceremony, the Milton Patch flown aboard Soyuz spacecraft and the Space Station with Chris Hadfield along with the Certificate of Authenticity will be on display.

The Milton Walk of Fame is a Town of Milton 150th Anniversary legacy project in recognition of Milton’s best. Each Walk of Fame inductee is permanently recognized in the glass corridor which links the historic Town Hall (Town Hall West) to the addition (Town Hall East). The program recognizes achievements in the fields of athletic, arts and entertainment, business, agri-business and industry, government and public service, and health and science.

Walk of Fame nominees must be born in Milton, or have spent their formative or creative years in Milton, and must have lived in Milton for minimum of 10 years. Nominees’ accomplishments must be national and/or international in scope, and their achievements must be best-in-class in their best-in-class field of endeavour and extended for a minimum of a two-year calendar period.
