Three student trustees have been elected to sit on the Halton Catholic District School Board for the 2015/2016 school year.

They are Jackson Brown of Burlington (Corpus Christi Catholic Secondary School), Manuela Zapata of Oakville (St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School) and Chloe Kemeni of North Halton (Bishop P.F. Reding Catholic Secondary School).

Student trustees are senior high school students who have been elected by the student senate. Every school board in Ontario has at least one student trustee.

Although student trustees have a non-binding vote, they are allowed to voice their opinions on important issues.

“The role of the student trustee is key to providing the student voice and perspective at the board table,” said Jane Michael, HCDSB chair.
