Work is moving along for the new Milton Velodrome located at the foot of the Niagara escarpment in Milton, Ont.
This public-private partnership (P3) contract was awarded to Ontario Sports Solutions (ONSS), a joint venture team between Kenaidan Contracting Ltd. and Bouygues Building Canada Inc. As the first facility of its kind in Canada, and only the second to meet top international standards in North America, this venue will host the track cycling competitions during the 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games.
Upon completion of the Games, the Velodrome will be the new home for the Canadian National Cycling Team. The owner is the Town of Milton and completion is scheduled for late summer 2014. The project was designed by Cannon Design, with consultants being Arup Canada Inc. and Morrison Hershfield Limited. Subcontractors include: Carnello Civil Construction Ltd. (excavation & site services); Norak Steel Construction Limited (structural steel); Canam (metal decking); Alliance Forming Ltd. (formwork); St. Marys Cement (CBM) (concrete supply); Albrecht Reinforcing Inc. (rebar); Metro Concrete Floors (1990) Inc.; (floor finishing); PSI (pre-cast bleachers); Fourway Electric (electrical); General Sprinklers Inc.; Lancaster Sheet Metal Limited (mechanical); and Dominion Lightning Rod Co., Ltd. (lightning suppression).
