A line-up of Canadian musicians is among the highlights of the upcoming season at the Milton Centre for the Arts.

Announced recently with the release of the annual season brochure, the 2015-16 season will offer a wide variety of entertainment.

“I know it will come as a surprise to many that our fifth season is already upon us,” said Rob Mackay, manager of Cultural Services for the Town of Milton. “This year’s line-up offers something for everyone with exciting performances that span a wide variety of artistic genres, and appeal for all ages.”

Internationally-renowned Canadian musicians will grace the stage this season, including Bruce Cockburn, Jully Black and Jarvis Church, as well as a special encore presentation from the celebrated Jesse Cook. Back by popular demand, Classic Albums Live returns to perform note-for-note renditions of the best-selling albums of Supertramp and Led Zeppelin.

In addition, Milton’s own Michelle Truman will return to the stage with Always Abba, showcasing the classic looks and sound that made Abba famous.

Residents are encouraged to explore the diverse musical offerings presented this season, including Cape Breton’s Men of the Deeps’ 50th anniversary performance, featuring legendary mining songs and stories. Celebrated Canadian singer/songwriters Murray McLauchlan, Marc Jordan, Cindy Church and Ian Thomas, known as Lunch at Allen’s, will perform familiar and new hits.

The Milton Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Sabatino Vacca, will perform Christmas and spring concerts at the centre. The group will also be featured as the entertainment for the Annual Mayor’s Gala for the Arts: An Evening in Hollywood, featuring music of the movies.

A variety of family-friendly performances will also be offered this season, including Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny. The much-anticipated return of Zacada Entertainment with Circus Labyrinth will feature a presentation that includes acrobatics directed by former performers from Cirque du Soleil.

Comedian Ron James and the fifth instalment of the beloved Wingfield series, Wingfield on Ice, are expected to have audiences laughing in their seats.

Theatre and dance performances will also be featured this season, including award-winning Canadian theatre and dance presentations, dance films and the return of Ballet JÖrgen’s holiday classic, The Nutcracker: A Canadian Tradition.

Movie buffs will once again be able to enjoy monthly screenings of independent, international and Canadian films, presented thanks to the volunteers of the Milton Film Forum.

Season brochures are being delivered to households in Milton and Campbellville, and rural routes in Hornby, Moffat, Rockwood and Acton.

The brochure is also available in Town facilities and online at www.miltoncentreforthearts.ca.
