The Town of Milton has just received a huge financial boost from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.

A second-quarter revenue payment of $1,782,087 was issued to the Town for hosting the OLG Slots at Mohawk Racetrack. This puts Milton’s total earnings from the Slots at over $88 million in non-tax gaming revenue.

“This is great news for Halton residents. The gaming site in our area generates substantial funding for our community,” said Indira Naidoo-Harris, MPP Halton.

The figure is based on an escalating scale of slot machine revenue, as stated in the Municipality Contribution Agreement. This agreement outlines what a municipality should receive for hosting an OLG gaming facility.

“With these funds the Town of Milton will be able to improve local programs and infrastructure while additional revenues to the province can be invested in vital services like health care and education,” said Harris.

OLG gives the Ontario government its largest source of non-tax revenue — $2 billion. This year, $115 million will be donated to support charities throughout the Province through the Ontario Trillium Foundation and $39 million will go to treatment programs for gambling addiction.
